Outdoor Volunteering - This provides an opportunity for volunteers to work on our 5-acre site, with our site management team. Our volunteers include those who are unemployed, students, and those living with mental and physical health problems.
Supported Volunteering – Working in our community garden, this programme allows us to provide spaces for young adults and their carers living with conditions such as non-verbal Autism or Down Syndrome.
Tool-shed - Tool-shed sessions work to reduce social isolation with a secondary goal to reduce waste via the refurbishment and recycling of household and garden tools.
Dementia Friendly – Our building and site activities have been designed for working with people living with Dementia. We offer a variety of sessions, including tool refurbishment, woodworking, and outdoor activities.
Environmental and community education - We currently work with four primary schools on a weekly basis and attract many other schools for shorter contracts in nature therapy, outdoor education and continuing professional development for teachers and staff.
Training programme - Our training programme incorporates Modern Apprenticeships in Estate Maintenance for a number of young people each year as part of the Our Bright Future project, alongside short-term work experience and employment opportunities.
Additional Activities - We also run other activities, including nature and art workshops, children’s holiday clubs, a tool lending library, and local environmental advocacy.
Professional CPD events - The Ecology Centre also provides informative and inspiring CPD and away days for teachers and youth leaders at our beautiful setting at Kinghorn Loch or in their own setting, with some of the topics including:
